Honfleur tips and insights
Setting
The slender high-rise buildings (see photo) are well-preserved. Many have quay-side cafes and restaurants offering delightful views of the docked sailing yachts and fishing boats.
Artists
Famous 19th-century artists relished painting the Honfleur scene. Today, visiting and local artists do the same - and their patient brush-and-easel presence enhances the harbor's personality. Their works are sold in small art galleries in nearby narrow lanes.
Sainte-Catherine church
Another attraction is the wooden Sainte-Catherine church. Its twin ceilings resemble upturned ship hulls (supposedly because they were designed by shipbuilders, not ecclesiastical architects).
