Has a picturesque cityscape and a delightful cultural ambiance. "Axe" is pronounced "Ex".

The town of Arles boasts a Roman amphitheatre and was Van Gogh's home during his most acclaimed period.

Top 2 attractions in Marseille
Vieux Port
It's Marseille's tourism star. Fishing boats and yachts pack this ancient port. The name means Old Port. Sorry to say, cruise ship docks are distant from Vieux Port - and roads along the way can be congested.

Notre Dame Basilica
This church sits high on a hill overlooking Marseille, creating a stunning sight. Interior is less captivating.
