Rhodes Old Town tips and insights
Top attraction
The Palace of the Grandmaster (see top of photo) is the leading attraction in Rhodes Old Town. It was the headquarters of the Knights of St. John, a military religious order that ruled the region for two centuries before falling to the Ottoman Turks in 1522.

Walls
The massive fortification walls of this great citadel of Greece (see bottom of photo) are 4 kilometers or 2.5 miles long. They enclose both the palace and the historic town, which today bursts with tourist shops and restaurants.

Explore the quiet backstreets of this wonder of Greece for a glimpse of Rhodes' non-tourist character.
